New West College Transition to the D2L Brightspace Learning System

As we approach a new semester we would like to take this opportunity to tell you about a big change happening at our college.

New West College is moving to D2L Brightspace!

The New West College team is excited to finally announce that we will transition all our courses from Google Classroom to a new learning platform, D2L Brightspace.

Starting in September 2024 all course material will be completed on D2L as we phase out Google Classroom. Students will be able to access all classes, quizzes, assignments, discussion groups and grades in the new D2L environment; all conveniently in one place and in a user-friendly environment.

All current and new students will be receiving communications at their @newwestcollege.com email about how to login to their D2L account, and what your transition date is (applicable to current students only).

As soon as you have this information, make sure that you follow the instructions in the email and log in to D2L. If you have any issues logging in, please contact it-helpdesk@newwestcollege.com, or submit an IT Help Desk request.

Please note that you will not see any courses in D2L for now. Those will become available closer to your transition date.

New West College D2L Brightspace Orientation

We understand that this is a significant change for all current and new students, and we at NWC want to assist you in ensuring a smooth transition. As such, we will be holding an online orientation to teach students how to utilize the platform for their studies.

Orientation for D2L Brightspace will be held on multiple days, for your convenience, and will cover multiple topics, including D2L-related training and other important information regarding your upcoming classes.

All students are required to attend only one of the orientation sessions. Orientations will be offered on the following dates and times:

  • September 3rd, 2024 - 6pm

  • September 4th, 2024 - 6pm

  • September 5th, 2024 - 6pm

  • September 13th, 2024 - 6pm

  • September 14th, 2024 - 6pm

If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to your instructor, program coordinator, or our admissions team.
